Why Glaciers Matter
Glaciers are vanishing.
With them, water, cultures, and entire ecosystems are at risk.
We unite science, art, Indigenous voices, and community action to protect glaciers and inspire a world that cares.
What we do
Expeditions & Encounters
Bringing people face-to-face with glaciers and the high-mountain ecosystems that sustain life.

How You Can Help
Global Challenge
The Glacier Nation Global Challenge is now open and we're looking for young people who want to make a real impact for the world's glaciers.
This challenge brings together emerging leaders from glacier countries to learn, collaborate, and take meaningful action in their own communities. Over three months, participants will take on missions that blend science, storytelling, and community engagement, all supported by glaciologists, mentors, and the Glacier Nation team.
The goal is simple: help you spark local initiatives, build a network of allies, and grow the next Glacier Nation chapters across the world.
For selected finalists, the journey may continue in Colombia — home to the last tropical glaciers and the birthplace of the Cumbres Blancas / Glacier Nation movement. There, participants may take part in an in-person incubation experience to deepen their learning and collaboration.
Disclaimer: By applying, you will join a global youth community of practice bringing together 18 emerging leaders from glacier-rich nations to exchange ideas and perspectives on the future of glaciers. Over a three-month, intensive, and voluntary learning journey, participants will engage online with fellow youth activists, scientists, and professionals from international partner organizations.
This is a non-remunerated opportunity designed to build knowledge, collaboration, and leadership for glacier and post-glacial ecosystem conservation.
The goal is that, at the end of this learning experience, selected leaders may have the opportunity to travel to Colombia for in-person exchanges and field activities. This component depends on the availability of funds and sponsorship secured for the Challenge.
